Maya Miller
Development Associate
Maya joined Bridges to Independence in the Fall of 2021. Guided by the Nelson Mandela quote, “Children are our greatest treasure,” she has dedicated over a decade to working with children, teens, and underserved communities. Her work and life experiences have inspired her commitment to promoting equality, fighting for justice, and advocating for others. With a B.A. in Political Science from Winston-Salem State University and an MSW from Howard University, Maya combines her education with her passion for community advocacy.
Maya served as the Sullivan House Shelter Case Manager for two years, where she provided direct support to families experiencing homelessness. In her current role as Development Associate at Bridges, she supports the organization’s mission by fostering relationships with donors, coordinating fundraising initiatives, and enhancing community partnerships. She continues to find joy in empowering others and contributing to the growth and sustainability of programs that serve those in need.
