Joy graduated from American University and worked for some years as a freelance photographer and taught photography at Walter Reed Military Medical Center. When her daughter started 1st grade, she began working in Church Administration. Over time she attended seminary and served on staff in various roles at several churches, eventually doing mostly church financial management. She has also been a finance consultant for several churches and nonprofit organizations, including Bridges to Independence. She joined the staff of Bridges to Independence in July 2021.

Joy is a mom & a grandmother. As a child, she was an “army brat” and lived in Ethiopia, Germany and about 6 different states. Joy still loves to travel whenever she can. In her spare time she studies & practices Positive Psychology Life Coaching, and is certified by the International Coaching Federation. Joy loves learning new things and helping people and organizations reach their highest potential.
