Build bridges during government shutdown

Dear Friends,

As you are aware, the partial government shutdown has hit the four-week mark, impacting the nation and especially those in our region. Bridges to Independence relies on federal funding to support some of our clients; our ability to serve these families fully may be in jeopardy.

More than 50% of the families we serve are receiving a federal rent subsidy from Bridges provided by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Due to the lapse in Congressional appropriations, HUD remains closed. As the shutdown reaches day 28, Bridges is no longer receiving these critical funds which directly impact our programs, services, and families here in our community. Simply said, we are finding it difficult to achieve our mission to move families out of homelessness and into homes of their own.

I am reaching out to you, Bridges donors and friends, to help us during this difficult time. We need you to serve as “the bridge” until HUD funds become available. Please consider making a donation online through our website here.

Thank you for your generosity,
