Building Update

In Northern Virginia, the cost of living continues to rise, placing an incredible burden on our community’s most vulnerable families. As a result, the number of families in need of housing stabilization and support continues to grow. In fiscal year 2017, the number of families that Bridges served increased by 31% over the previous fiscal year.

The increase in numbers has prompted us to more closely examine our long-term plans and recommit to directing our valuable resources where they are needed most. After serious deliberation and careful consideration amongst our Board of Directors, staff, and key community stakeholders, we have determined that purchasing office space in Clarendon at this time would significantly limit our ability to provide the stabilization and supportive services that our families so desperately need. Therefore, the Board of Directors has decided not to move forward with purchasing the office condominium located at 932 N. Highland Street.

Our staff and Board are confident this decision allows us to continue our mission-focused work, follow the path outlined by our strategic plan, and remain the best stewards of the donations provided by our generous supporters. We remain grateful for the community’s continued support of our important work leading families out of homelessness and into stable, independent futures.
