Scott Milam

Scott Milam is a co-Founder of Afton Partners LLC, a consultancy dedicated to supporting and sustaining high quality, innovative K12 public schools, districts and charter networks across the country.  He has nearly 25 years of experience providing management and advisory services for clients in the commercial and public sectors. His experience at Afton has included supporting multiple sustainability planning initiatives, including Raise Your Hand Texas and Next Generation Learning Challenges, as well as financial efficiency and effectiveness initiatives for clients such as ACA Financial.  He has led transformative engagements with SEAs, multiple traditional public school and charter LEAs, as well as philanthropic organizations supporting K12 public school initiatives.

Prior to co-founding Afton, Scott served as a Director at Alvarez & Marsal, leading intense corporate and public sector restructuring and turnaround initiatives.  Before joining Alvarez & Marsal, Scott served as a direct report to the CEO of Massport to focus on the transformation of this quasi-public agency after the terrorist attacks of 9/11, which was documented in a Harvard Kennedy School case study entitled “The Turnaround Artist: Craig Coy Tackles Political Influence at Massport.”  He previously was a Manager in the Corporate Recovery Services practice at Arthur Andersen in Atlanta, GA, and an analyst at Lexecon, Inc in Chicago, IL.

Scott earned his BA in foreign affairs at the University of Virginia.  He and his family have been Arlington residents since 2007.
